PSU-Polysulfone
Polysulfone (PSU) is a hard, rigid, high-strength thermoplastic suitable for continuous use up to 300°F (149°C). It is resistant to oxidation and hydrolysis, and can withstand prolonged high temperature and repeated sterilization.
Polysulfone is highly resistant to mineral acids, bases and salt solutions. Detergent and hydrocarbon oil resistance is good, but the resin may be attacked by polar solvents, such as ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. These resins also have strong resistance to gamma or electron beam radiation degradation.
The electrical properties of polysulfone are stable over a wide range of temperatures and after immersion in water or exposure to high humidity. The resin meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1655 and can be used in reusable items that come into contact with food. In addition, they have received approval from the National Natural Science Foundation, the Department of Agriculture regarding contact with meat and poultry, and the Dairy Association's 3-A health standards.
