TOPAS
COC-Plastic
COC plastic is the commercial name of a cycloolefin copolymer (COC) developed by TOPAS ADVANCED POLYMERSGmbH. It is an amorphous transparent polymer with a cyclic olefin structure.
TOPAS® is highly rated in the market for its optical properties comparable to PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate, acrylic resin), higher heat resistance than PC (polycarbonate), and better dimensional stability than PMMA and PC due to its low water absorption. In addition, TOPAS® also has the advantages of improving water vapor tightness, increasing rigidity, heat resistance, and giving easy cutting ability. As a modified material suitable for use in traditional materials, its development activities in the field of packaging materials are progressing.
TOPAS® is an amorphous ring resin of high quality and purity based on unique metallocene catalyst technology. TOPAS® has the best characteristics and cost performance as a high-quality and costly alternative to quartz glass and PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) in the medical field where standards are very demanding, such as medical devices and inspection and diagnostic devices.
