PVDF-Polyvinylidene fluoride
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a highly non-reactive thermoplastic fluorinated polymer. It can be synthesized by polymerization of 1,1 - difluoroethylene. Dissolved in dimethyl acetamide and other strong polar solvents. Aging resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, UV radiation resistance and other excellent properties. Can be used as engineering plastics, used in sealing ring corrosion resistant equipment, capacitors, also used as coatings, insulation materials and ion exchange membrane materials.
PVDF is mainly used for high purity requirements, at the same time need to resist solvent and acid-base corrosion occasions. PVDF has a lower density (1.78g/cm) than other fluoropolymers, such as Teflon.
PVDF can be used in the production of pipe, plate, film, substrate and cable insulation. It can also be injection-molded or welded, and is widely used in the chemical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and defense industries, such as lithium-ion batteries. In addition, it can also be made into cross-linked closed-cell foams, which are increasingly used in the aerospace field.
Fine powder grade PVDF, such as KYNAR 500 PVDF and HYLAR 5000 PVDF, can be used to manufacture high-end metallic coatings. This paint has extremely high gloss and color stability. It can be found in many famous buildings, such as the Twin Peaks Tower and Taipei 101. Commercial buildings and residential metal roofing can also be used.
